DUBAI – The Dubai Films and Games Commission (DFGC), in partnership with Ubisoft, hosted a special midnight launch event for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, the highly anticipated remake of one of the publisher’s most celebrated games.
Held ahead of the title’s global release, the event brought together gaming enthusiasts, content creators and fans for an immersive celebration of one of the industry's most successful franchises.
It also marked the first public event organised by DFGC, reflecting its growing role in supporting Dubai’s expanding gaming sector.

The launch event showcased an interactive gaming hub featuring dedicated gameplay zones where visitors experienced the remake before its worldwide release. Fans also enjoyed Assassin’s Creed-themed cosplay, franchise trivia sessions and a range of interactive activities designed to celebrate gaming culture while encouraging community engagement.
The event forms part of DFGC’s wider efforts to support the continued growth of Dubai’s gaming ecosystem and advance the strategic objectives of the Dubai Media Council, under which the commission operates. By bringing together developers, creators and gaming communities, the initiative aims to strengthen collaboration across the industry.
Faisal Kazim, Games Commissioner at the Dubai Films and Games Commission, said hosting the midnight launch alongside Ubisoft demonstrated the commission’s commitment to expanding Dubai’s gaming ecosystem while creating opportunities for creators, industry leaders and gaming communities to connect.
He said partnerships with leading global companies such as Ubisoft are intended to reinforce Dubai’s position as an international hub for gaming, one of the world’s fastest-growing creative industries. He added that the commission is focused on building a vibrant and sustainable gaming ecosystem that attracts talent, encourages innovation and contributes to the emirate’s creative economy.
Faithful remake
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is a complete remake of the acclaimed 2013 title, rebuilt using the latest version of Ubisoft’s Anvil Engine. The new edition preserves the defining features of the original while introducing enhanced visuals, upgraded gameplay mechanics and additional content for modern gaming platforms.
Originally released in 2013, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag became one of the franchise’s most successful instalments, attracting more than 34 million players worldwide. Developed by Ubisoft Singapore with contributions from members of the original development team, the remake once again follows pirate Edward Kenway as he embarks on adventures across the Caribbean.
Gareth Evans, Territory Director at Ubisoft, said the company was delighted to collaborate with the Dubai Films and Games Commission for the game's launch. He noted that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has surpassed 34 million players since its original release and described the remake as a faithfully enhanced version featuring stunning visuals, upgraded gameplay and new content while bringing back the iconic solo pirate adventure.
